This convenient sling backpack pattern is for a bag which is compact and light enough for taking out with with you but roomy enough for all your essentials. The modern, practical design allows for easy access as well as being out of the way when you’re not using it. Choose from a front zippered pocket (View A) or a patch pocket (View B), both come in handy for quick access to smaller items. An adjustable strap makes this sling backpack easy to wear. Perfect for cycling or walking!

Materials needed:
0.6m Exterior Fabric
0.6m Lining Fabric (includes interior pocket)
1.2m (1.4m if making fabric strap) Fusible Woven Interfacing (Pellon SF101-20”/51 cm-wide)
1 x 18”/40.6 cm head-to-head handbag zipper^ for top closure
1 x 10”/25.4 cm handbag zipper*^ for front pocket closure (View A) OR 14mm magnetic snap/size 24 metal spring snap (View B)
Sandhill Hardware Kit or: 1” (25mm)-wide d-ring, 1 ½” (38mm) wide strap slider, 1 ½”(38mm) wide swivel snap
1.4m 1 ½”-wide cotton webbing (OR add additional 0.25m of Exterior fabric requirement for making a fabric strap)
^ pattern assumes zipper tape width of 1 ¼”, zips are intentionally longer to allow for ease of construction
Recommended Fabrics: Canvas (8-10 oz. weight) for exterior fabric. Quilting cotton or lightweight canvas for lining.
